The Great Cairo Scavenger Hunt is a game about Cairo.
Teams use a passport book and a mobile app to find locations, take pictures, and answer questions about the city. Passport Stops may, or may not, have separate challenges to earn that station's stamp. Teams have the same start and end point and have a fixed time to score as many points as they can.
Prizes are awarded to the top overall scoring teams - as well as teams that score best in transporation and trivia. There are also crowd sourced prizes for teams that upload - best picture from the tour; best story of their experience and best video.
Organizers:
This first time in Egypt event is being organized by khawaga t shirts and Inta Feen.
Khawaga t shirts is a young brand producing and designing high quality t shirts and bags celebrating Cairo and Egypt.
Inta Feen is an Egyptian startup of Silicon Valley veterans that have created the Inta Feen mobile application. The Great Cairo Scavenger Hunt application has been made by Inta Feen specially for the event.
Needed:-
1. at least camera phone per team.
2. A pen.
3. Teams: Recommended team size -4-5. Minimum team size: 3 people. No maximum limit. Please register as a team [DELETE and designate a captain.] We can create teams if people choose to register individually. 4. Please wear comfortable and appropriate clothing/footwear - keep in mind that 1) it will be hot and sunny out and 2) you may be going to more traditional neighborhoods.
How to play
Before the event:
* Register team on Tazkarty.net
* Registration not confirmed until payment is made will be open 3 days prior to the event from May 18th at Beano's Cafe 6 Ibn Arhab St. Corniche el Nil, Beside La Poire, Giza.
* All Participants will have to sign a waiver at the registration point.
* Everyone registered through tazkarty.net and on Facebook event page will get an email about what to expect, and code of conduct.
Day of event (Friday, May 20, 2011)
* Teams arrive at meeting point Darb 1718 to pick up their game packs - the whole team needs to be present before handing out game packages.
* While picking up team packages, teams must designate 1 camera, 1 passport book and 2 team members that will be used for scoring purposes.
* Meeting Point Darb1718 opens at 8:00 am.
GAME STARTS AT 9:00 am
* Teams can use any form of transportation to get from one place to the other. NO DRIVERS - immediate disqualification. Public means of transportation are rewarded.
* Score points by doing the following
1. checking in and taking a team pictures at designated locations
2. team pictures with means of transportation
3. pictures of daily life (as defined in the passport book received on the day)
4. getting your Great Cairo Scavenger Hunt passport book stamped at designated locations
5. answering questions that are in your passport book
* Everything - travel, found locations, questions answered - should be written down in the log section of the passport booklet.
*noon to one is break from the game - review strategy, plan for the afternoon, pray, relax. No points to be scored scored
* Teams (All members) must return to registration location by the designated time (to be announced during the week prior to the event). There is a 5 minute window where teams checking in arriving get a 15% point reduction and are then ineligible for the specialty awards. Teams arriving later than 5 minutes grace period are disqualified. Partners will be providing entertainment as teams return to the registration zone.
Post Event
* Teams are invited to share one favorite story/incident of the Great Cairo Scavenger Hunt (limited to 200 words)
* Teams are invited to share one picture taken during the Great Cairo Scavenger Hunt with a brief explanation of what this means to the team.
* Once posted teams are encouraged to invite their friends to vote for the best story and best picture. * There will be a prize ceremony for all winners, and partners.
