We previously wrote a post wondering how the Egyptian community would react to some of their celebrities and athletes who didn't support them during the revolution, well... we got our answer!
There's a blacklist.
Apparently, there is a blacklist going around with names of public figures that were unsupportive or disrespectful to the mass Egyptian population (i.e. their fans) during the revolution. The blacklist calls upon their previous fans to boycott their future work.
From what we've read, the blacklist currently includes a number of the biggest actors/actresses/singers/athletes in Egypt, including Adel Imam, Yusra, Tamer Hosni, Elham Shaheen, Sameh Anwar, and more. The list is quite large and some of the names we saw were actually supportive and respectful of their fans...
What we're wondering is, who started this list?
And while it is justified that fans be upset with celebs that insulted them...if every actor and singer is boycotted then what will happen to our entertainment industry?
A few celebrities have already issued apologies while other's have fled the country.
Will the entertainment industry struggle with the boycotting of actors and singers?
We really hope not. We're slowly watching how this will play out.
