We wonder if Mark Zuckerberg knew that his college project would change the world, take part in revolutions, and ...end friendships?

When Facebook was restored to all, chaos ensued. Everyone had an opinon, and rightfully so. But what was not right in any way shape or form, was the complete and utter disrespect that surfaced in supposed civil debates and discussions. As educated adults, why would political debates, as heated and emotional as they may get, turn to insults? Granted, this was an extremely emotional subject - but again - why the need for slander and name-throwing? We were extremely disappointed in the conduct on Facebook between friends, and now former friends. Everyone has the right to an opinon, whatever it is, and if you want your opinion to be respected then you have to reciprocate!

We saw someone tell a non-Egyptian that their opinion was of no value and to say the hell out of it, we saw someone tell all Egyptians with dual citizenships to shove it because they were "Welad kalb" that don't deserve to be Egyptian, we saw curse words, and we saw friendships END. People actually defriended each other on Facebook! SERIOUSLY?

Then there were the spam-posters. Those that forgot about the use of Twitter and instead spammed our wall with articles, videos, and paragraph long statuses. While FB was an integral part of sharing information, communication, and more - the newsfeed was definitely abused by some people.

The past few days brought a lot of people closer together...it brought nationalism and warmth into our homes and created a newfound love for Egypt that we all appreciate more than ever. So let us respect each other so that we may maintain that love for our culture and one another.
