Print is not dead, as a matter of fact there is nothing like having a good printed magazine in your hands, while you are in the bathroom.

Two, come on seriously i am sure you are being saracastic here, but you started the egyptian blogosphere ? when you started blogging, blogging was on the downward hill, its all about video blogging, another aspect that we should catch up with later ..

and all magazines in the globe now has at least three different editions, 1 print, 2  online 3 ipad version. why do they do that... well simply to cater to different market and expand their outreach. usually people who go to the iPad version are the religious followers of a magazine.... people who mostly go for print are the people who are on the go.... you can get on a train, grab a magazine, you are getting on plane grab a magazine, you are in hotel grab a magazine, people who go online are either people who religious followers, like i cant wait every month till Business Today updates its website, or are people who are searching for some article and happened to land on that magainze, or looking for specific items, like fashion trends, you got vogue.com or whatever.

print can never be dead, nor can any of the other versions, as at the end of the day they are different channels of distribution and different advertising networks.



Scene, you should go into print ;)

but hey i might be wrong..... maybe my opinion is wrong, maybe print is in fact dead, but is dead... = decline or is dead = not exisitng

Not to brag, but I wrote a comment a few months back when there was a post about the launch of autocar magazine.
Ofcourse print is dead, it's slow expensive and not scalable nor is its advertising performance measurable as with online.

That link is about i pad mags and the reason is the i pad does not use e ink and is not really made for reading mag and news type formats.

Print is dead and thats not a bad thing, all paper was was a medium to comunicate.  E mail replaced fax online and e readers will replace books.

The barriers to entry online are so much less and the opertunity so much higher that the next generation will not bother to become writers of books in the tradional sense

Print will never be dead…. do ur grand parents use the internet. or does ur dad read the papers online when he is on his way to work, or when he is up in the morning.. oooh and do businessmen give their condolences to other public figures online!! lets admit its a good way for entertaining a certain age group and definately this decades technology but print dead?? HELL NO!

If print was dead, magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Marie Claire who are definitely way more established than S&H, would have stopped their print versions and stuck to staying online. Till this day online and ipad versions are just a replacement for the times when you can't get ur hands on the "real thing", which is still PRINT...

Magazines like vogue and cosmo have been loosing add revenue for years and the only thing which keeps them alive is unique content but more and more writters and fashion experts are going online lo less and less content is unique to them so yes print is DYING and all those mags were the first to move to e zines
