Sorry to burst your bubble, but I work for the Mercer, which is the surveyor that officially releases this list on an annual basis, and Egypt is NOT ranked 74th.
Unfortunately it is not even ranked in the top 100 globally or even top 10 in Africa and the Middle East.

Ya sorry but daily news Egypt have also gotten their facts wrong, ya I know hard to believe since they are a internationally respected newspaper....
Listen, Mercer's survey is the only list that counts, it's the Hr firm that is known to release this list..they're only two that are released officially, theirs and the economists which also use information and data from MERCER.

well this is referencing the Newsweek ranking not the Mercer one, as explained by the comment with the link to the Daily News Egypt article. Might have helped if S&H mentioned that in their post . . .

but after digging for some info, even checking out DAILYNEWS-EGYPT,
I found out that the information is absolutely accurate, according to a NEWSWEEK study (study of health, education, economy, and politics) Egypt is ranked number 74, and NEWSWEEK is a magazine not a consulting firm.
IMO, There is also a difference between both surveys:
NEWSWEEK's called "The World's Best Countries" as for MERCER, it's called "Quality of Living worldwide city rankings 2010".... the latter is surveying QUALITY OF LIVING only, which is by the way one of the factors in NEWSWEEK's survey in addition to other features used to conduct the research.
in MERCER's there is no education factor. NEWSWEEK included economic competitiveness and political environment, and quality of life (Inequality , Extreme poverty, Standard of living , Physical environment and Economic security)

SO OBVIOUSLY, TOTALLY DIFFERENT SURVEYS

take France for example, in MERCER's, it was ranked number 1 with final score 82, as for NEWSWEEK, FRANCE was ranked number 16 with final score 83.26 (remember that each has its own way and formula of scoring)

Finland was first in NEWSWEEK scoring 89.40, according to Mercer, it was placed number 18 scoring 75,

Egypt was placed 74th in Newsweek (YES 74) with score 57.11, according to Mercer, it was placed 135th with score 51............
