Turns out...according to a recent article that the Middle East is the most attractive area for study abroads!
More and more students have shipped out to Egypt (AUC), Syria, Lebanon, etc to learn Arabic and work in the region! In one year, the percentage of students that chose the Middle East for their study abroad rose by 60%!!
With so much focus on this region, we assumed that while some students are interested in the cultures, the majority want to understand and learn the language and workings of our region. According to the article though, the majority of these students are doing it to see "the Arab world beyond American's borders and viewpoints". It turns out many students are heading to the region to learn more about Pali-Israeli conflict, women issues, and general interest in understanding the culture, whether for personal interest or potential foreign service careers in the region.
If that's the case, then please do come and see for yourselves that it's an awesome region!
