So the World Cup officially kicked off last night and as football frenzy continues to escalate, everyone has been asking us for our recommendations on where to watch them.

So after spreading out the team last night all over Cairo here are the places we recommend:

  • El Shagara: Formerly known as Sangria, the new garden area has been renovated and taken over by Mr. Ganzoury himself...Chill in the garden with a drink in one hand and your shisha in the other, while overlooking the Nile.
  • font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Fairmont Nile City: Wherever you are in the Fairmont, you won't be able to get away from the world cup, be it in the Lower Lobby or at Bar Kaya on the roof. We definitely recommend the latter, breathtaking views of Cairo shisha and drinks on the roof, no better way to do it.
  • Mojo Lounge: No matter where you are in Cairo, you'll find one of Cairo's most relaxing lounges near you. If your near the Zamalek area or Katameyya, you'll find one of Cairo's most buzzed about locations. Want to feel the world cup fever definitely head out there.
  • Sequoia: If there ever where a place that people love regardless, it would be Sequoia! Where all of everyone's Ramadan's and football games are watched. We don't need to vouch for the place as you have all been there a million times.
  • Cairo Jazz - Just want a drink instead of shisha and the whole cafe experience, then why not give Cairo Jazz a chance. Happy Hour is from 7-9 p.m. so you can definitely throw back a few while watching your favorite team win.
  • L'Aubergine: Another bar that has kind of been out of the picture for awhile, but seems to be an old favorite and one of those all around chill places. Grab yourself a corner and a drink, without having to worry about the crowd and who's there!
