Rumor has it that Omar Rateb once turned a veiled woman away from Andrea, not because of her veil, but because her veil symbolized many things that she would find sinful in his lounge, such as alcohol, revealing clothing, etc, all these were things against her beliefs, he claimed - so why go in if it's not your cup of tea?

We recently came across an article about clubs in Cairo turning away veiled women...they said:

"In trendy clubs and cafés across Cairo, the hair and neck-covering scarf known as the hijab is increasingly being shunned as unacceptable dress. Several bars and restaurants where alcohol is served now essentially ban veiled women from entering. The policy is more open in some places than others but seems to apply to at least half a dozen Cairo venues."

So apparently the trend has increased. With all due respect to the veil and for the first time in our life we may possibly agree with Rateb, the veil does symbolize the conservativeness of Islam (if done appropriately of course). We won't get into whether it is required or not, or any religious debate for that matter...but we do think that if you're taking a religious step in your life, we'd think that a club full of drinks and dancing is the last place you would want to go.

What do you guys think?
