Web giants Yahoo have just purchased the Arab-based website maktoob.com....

Already one of the biggest Websites in the Middle East, which is most notably known for it's Arabic search engine...hence the reason why Yahoo was sooo interested. The two partnering together will combine Yahoo's global technology with the local Arabic content.

In 2007, Abraaj Capital Ltd., a Dubai-based company, sold its share in Maktoob to an investment firm in the U.S., Tiger Global Management, which will now go to Yahoo....
