We've recently noticed the increase in people that either just fast out of habit or actually just stopped fasting altogether.

Most of us grew up knowing that in Ramadan you fast. It's as simple as that.

But as we grew older, we started to find that many of our friends were either fasting just because that's what they're used to or stopped it altogether because they don't want to or don't agree with it. (To each and their own, we are in no way judging..just discussing)

Society has a way of pressuring one and guilting them into fasting even if they don't believe in it, and unfortunately that is not the point of seyam. There are many different explanations and reasons why one should fast which we won't get into since none of us are religious scholars...but it is clear that one should believe in the act while doing it, not out of fear that their parents, co-workers, siblings, and friends may judge them...

Then again we really don't see what the big deal is...have we become that spoilt (met dala3een) that we can't go through a day without controlling ourselves from eating, drinking, and smoking?! We all know that if we wanted to practice self-control we easily could, and just like millions of others are capable, we're sure our spoilt asses can brace ourselves till 6...

Yeah it's getting harder and harder by the year as the weather gets hotter and the days longer, but we have one thing to say there is no reason to rebel....but at the end of the day whatever your beliefs may be follow them!
