Although some may still be chilling by the beach trying to avoid the Ramadan hysteria in Cairo...the summer to almost all has come to an official close! So we thought why not see if this year matched up to past years' experiences!

So it's been two or three years now that we've had all these new places night spots open in Sahel, and what better to do than compare them to their past selves?!!?

We have been given the pleasure of going to Marassi all the years it has been open, while the entertainment every year gets better, the crowd gets younger (maybe since we get older - we're not to sure about the correlation)...but the location and the Colosseum looking structure that they resurrected did not impress us much. We liked last years makeshift setup more as it seemed more beachy and everyone was in each others vicinity, so we didn't have to trek through a bunch of people to reach our tables.

We do have a comment though that many seemed to share, no matter who you are, everyone thought the price for entry with drinks etc was quite steep...250 LE covers one drink? In the beginning of the summer it covered 2 drinks but a few weeks it only covered one...and this is plus Bouchon. Yeah people will pay and they still did, but there's no reason to take advantage of it.

We do have to give major props this year for the door organization, made things much smoother. Nicely done!

As for Hacienda Bay's Sky lounge - the major consensus favors last year over this year in terms of management and organization as well as in diversity of the entertainment. The location was just as beautiful as last year, it really is an awesome venue. They did however, move the DJ booth and change the flooring (we personally liked the dance floor over the water though last year!). The bartenders and waiters/waitresses were hot so that was definitely a plus over last year. The music was excellent every night - although it would've been nice to change it up with a new DJ every once and while like the previous year or like Marassi did this year but still - we can't complain about the music at all and we've heard nothing but good things as well.

We do have to comment that the management and organization of the place was very poor in quality. Everyone we know complained about making reservations and in the beginning of the summer the door was a complete mess and total chaos. It wasn't until they created the reservation cards that things started to run a little more smoothly - but seriously, where else do they have to print out reservation cards because they can't handle the door, in which you have to drive to the venue during the day? (You guessed right...NO WHERE!) We guess Wahdan isn't an events organizer and he should stick to what he knows!

Andrea has been the same for years and we can't complain...yes, Rateb drives us all crazy and some choose to deal with it while others don't. But we can all agree that most nights at Andrea is a guaranteed good time - not always incredible - but always a good time, with a good crowd..

With Ramadan taking over our summers, we wonder what Sahel will turn into in the coming years?
