According to recent news, The Ministry of State for Family and Population has launched a new campaign against underage marriages in villages of 6th of October Governorate.

A hot line (16021) has been set up to provide legal advice and raise awareness about the issue of underage marriage as well as help those that want to get married get official documents.

"A recent research conducted by Menf Association for Development, has found out an alarming increase in cases of underage girls' marriages in Egypt: 23.6 per cent of the total marriages in 2008 involved minors under 16, compared to 14 per cent in the year 2002."

We've heard of suicide hotlines, drug hotlines, abuse hotlines, etc...but never underage marriage. Well, if you're feeling pressured into getting hitched early...you now know who to call!
