If we weren't already a fast food nation then we're quickly becoming one..

EZ Take Out Burger will be making its way to the Middle East soon, similar to In-N-Out (most of you who have been to the west coast will be familiar with it).

The burger chain is partnering up with a Bahraini developer to build over 50 EZ Take Out Restaurants throughout the region...

"Al Safar Group will build the first two restaurants in Kuwait and Dubai, followed by locations in Saudi Arabia and Egypt."

What we love about this story is how Arab it is...the already small chain from Southern California has made its way to the Middle East, because the son of one of Al Safarâ€™s key owners is attending Cal State Long Beach. While studying there he took a liking to EZ Take Out. So he told Daddy who is also the owner and developer of the Rainforest cafes, to open the franchise here...

What a familiar story for all of us.."Daddy i want Mc Donalds in Egypt...OK Darling ;) " (please note the sarcasm Cairo!)

not to make it a tit (ehm ehm) for tat but cairo has always been a class act. lol falafel burgers are known the world over and some of the best purveyors are egyptian! Hell israel is even claiming it!!!!

don't knock cairo it's been kicking long before before the GULFIE MC'Cities...built by bechtle group etal cuz the denizens of the gulf were only skilled at building mud huts...

Btw, Sudan doesn't have "food"!!! c`mon, they have fertile land!! fertile land was once upon a time something ya'll owned too. Horrible agricultural means have led you to..this! Please don't fret with ours (yes, I'm Sudanese) try to work on yours! Which you totally can, if you resort to organic farming and land reclamation projects on massive scales.

You might want a good old collaboration that does actually benefit both sides and creates a win-win situation. But do the decision makers see it this way?

But here is something, Egyptian brands and business men have entered Sudan in droves in about 2004 and they keep growing. Which means internal collaborations and JVs are being held. THAT's the collaboration type we should aim at. Anything on the national level might be a little tricky.

Sudan has oil, land, and lacks fundamental infrastructure that Egypt can provide the know how for. Beat China to it and you got your self a deal!

1 no one is hating it's all in good fun! life imitates stereo types sometimes lighten up! especially in our region.

2 there's a certain air of entitlement and contempt in your falafel remark, but where i'm from it's all about the baked falafel balls...come to ny and you will hear more hebrew at the falafel shops than egyptian arabic, they know where the money's @.

3 and as for the class thing the anon above summed it succinctly but a bit harsh.

4 My ex g/f loves antiquing so she bought me a map of the middle east from the 1850's and there was only 1 country labeled on the map.........the rest was labeled OTTOMAN EMPIRE!

hehehe IQ, i hear they have tons of resources in that country.. gold and copper and other stuff. Something tells me they will always be rich lol. But recently they have been encouraging foreign investments all over the gulf.. Kuwait, bahrain, soon saudi and qatar i think. They are actually getting smarter. I always think that Egypts future is more in Africa expansion than Asia though.. There is so much untapped resources in Sudan (food!), Libya (oil) and the rest of the more southern countries, in preicious stones and oil.. And not to mention real estate and construction of infrastructure to support these industries. Services for the elite in Liberia and whatnot.. Egypt should try to fix these places' political stability and help them to help us make some cash!!!! Egypts gdp btw is almost as big as saudis... well ok over 4/4 less than 4/5 or so.. its just that we got so many ppl to spread it between.. Manpower is not nessecarily a bad thing though, its actually a good thing! Just needs to be directed positively! And thats my presedential speech 2012 lol.. Seriously though, i keep thinking theres a lot of money to be made in Africa, and Egypt is in pole position to make that money. Oppurtunity wont last forever though and our govt should act fast.

Lol.. Muni, thats not what i meant. The two nations could help EACH other. Something tells me im gonna regret getting into this political stuff, this did afterall start as a burger post. Or was it pizza? Anyway, Sudans got political issues, north, south etc. Egypt can help, in return, there could be better trade agreements. Cheaper food for Egyptians, cheaper textiles going do Sudan. You know.. Sudans actually got plenty of oil reserves that are not being used! In the end both populations get a better life and cheaper costs in a world that is becoming too expensive for both the way it is. I dont understand why arabs love to bash each other... Something you dont see in the west. but ok.

At the risk of sounding extremely nationalistic, I would like to reply to the post above: Egypts got plenty aite, the geographic location of Egypt between Asia africa and Europe and the natural sea port called the suez canal is a massive one. I will also point out those triangular shapes that ppl have marvelled at forever.. and the tourism they bring and the sandy shores.. i will also point out the massive entertainment industry all arabs are addicted to.. We got the hollywood of the middle east at our fingertips. Culture and politics leader in the area. Recently, the nile. And with all the new stuff theyr researching on it, its gonna be the next big one. Finally, though, Egypts got its proud people; the tayebeen that, while they might someimtes husstle you out of a pound or two, are really the kindest and most proper ged3an population out of everywhere ive been and, and you know it, and ive been around. Now... im not a fan of country bashing- but heres a mini one- if saudi is so great the way it is, why is it that the saudis cant stand to live in it and escape whenever they have the chance? Theres a lot thats wrong with that country.. read and youll know.
