Egypt's Orascom Construction Industries (OCI) announced that it landed a contract worth $140 million to work on Cairo's third metro rail line.

It's about time Cairo gets an upgraded metro system that runs all over the city, which will hopefully help with our traffic issues.

The new line, will run from Imbaba in Cairo's northeast to Heliopolis in the northwest, it is due for completion towards the end of 2013.

According to Nassef Sawiris "The Egyptian Ministry of Transportation has accelerated completion of the metro line as part of a massive infrastructure spending program."

Orascom had previously won a $180 million contract for work on the first phase of the expansion in 2007.
