We're sure you've all heard of the new phenomenon Twitter, although we have mixed feelings about it, we witnessed something that we think all our big shots in Egypt could practice a bit.
About a week ago, Ashton Kutcher nonchalantly noticed that his followers on Twitter were about the same as CNN...so he challenged them to reach a million. To make it more interesting, he offered to donate a amazing number of mosquito nets to the Malaria No more fund...when CNN matched it, he then bumped his offer to $100,000 if he wins. Sparking the interest of the media, Ellen Degeneres, Larry King, P Diddy, Oprah and more top celebs decided to pitch in on this twitter war and donate as well depending on the winner.
Using a simple status application...Ashton Kutcher and CNN were able to gain the encouragement of their fans to donate over $100,000 to a charity. Not only that, he brought positive attention to himself and various other entities effortlessly. We really think our big shots should take this into consideration...use the internet to your advantage. Even our celebs, use Facebook and Twitter to connect to your fans and to encourage community action.
We hope that it'll be contagious and soon we'll find on CNN that one of our own has used the internet for good...and not just for themselves.
