With Ramdan in full swing and week one officially over, we have realized there isn't much news to spread, and the news that is available to spread (well in the spirit of Ramadan) we'll be keeping it to our selves.
So we got to thinking, with all the Charity TV ads we see daily on TV and all the different Ramadan tents promoting different Charities through clothing brands etc...
Has the whole charity charade become just a marketing tool to get people to take part in normal daily events, or is it truly out the kindness of these people's hearts.
We don't know about you but we're firm believers in doing good, but knowing at the same time where the money is going to.
There is one ad on TV that really spoke to us, the jist of it is not to give beggers money just to shut them up, but to help them by providing them with jobs or opportunities to stand on their own two feet. For example providing a Kiosk for someone to work in rather than giving them 10 pounds, providing a cow or chickens in which can be utilized to start a business, etc...
If anything that definitely seems to be one of the only solutions for Egypt today, especially in a country where begging has become so common that people are taking it as the easy way out!

If you were any where near the North Coast this summer you for sure saw the Sprite Lemon and Lime characters all over the place!
They remind us of the talking M&M's so they're game in our books!
Check out Sprite's latest Ramadan campaign, we love the idea behind it and the fact that they are playing on all the talk shows we get bombarded with during the holy month!
What do you guys think?!

We're not sure if any of you have checked out AlterEgo's blog videos, and while we love the magazine, we're not big fans of the video blog.
Now our team are full believers that if you criticize, you should offer a solution, right?
Well, here's what we think. Great idea trying to be more interactive with your audience. However...we found the video of the managing editors in bathrobes talking about their spa treatments a bit weird, don't you think?
When we heard that the magazine was doing a videoblog we assumed it would feature the production stages of the magazine, or the shoots, or pretty much any element of the magazine itself, as opposed to the staff's personal spa treatments. No offense to the staff of course, go out and do your thing, massages and all...but we think blogging about the actual magazine might be a bit more interesting to check out.
Like we said before, the initial idea was good, but we're not bigs fans of the execution.
That's just our two cents!

Dear S&H,
So even before Ramadan started, I've started to feel a bit more spiritual and now that the holy month is settling in, I'm loving it. I'm embracing it more and more everyday. So far no problem right? My fiance is quite the opposite. He doesn't fast, doesn't pray, etc etc. It bothered me before but because I was never that religious I couldn't really say much...but the more that I'm enjoying my own spirituality now, he mocks me and I'm starting to get frustrated with his lack of respect for it. He's convinced that it's a phase that will pass, and even if it is, the fact that he's mocking me is not okay with me. It's not like I'm getting super religious, but I am embracing it more than I ever have. What worries me is how will he portray it to our kids then? I don't want them to come out disrespecting anybody's beliefs. I'm not saying he has to become religious but his mockery of it is making me worry that maybe he's not the person I thought he was. We've never really approached this type of situation but I never expected this reaction from him. What should i do? I tried talking to him about it and we ended up arguing and he blamed the fight on my "phase" and said we'll be fine once I get over it and get back to normal. Will any potential change in our lives be resisted? This really worries me.
Any advice?

We hear about ridiculous prices demanded by stars, but this seems a bit ridiculous.
Egyptian actress Somaya Al Khashab, known for her roles in a number of famous soap operas and movies in Egypt, has announced that she won't accept less than 150 thousand to star in any more Ramadan roles. Being absent from the scene for a couple of a years, she came back this Ramadan with quite the attitude, demanding that she deserves 150 grand due to her hard work.
Ok, we get that you're a recognized name, but seriously, going on shows and demanding? Actors and actresses are expendable! They can be replaced, which is why we don't get how they become so spoiled and greedy - especially when you consider where they started! (This applies to foreign actors as well).
We wonder, at what point does an actor/actress think to yourself that the movie industry can't survive without them?
