You know summer is near when every Egyptians social calendar begins to fill up! Looks like this past weekend was just a taste of what's to come as the heat sizzles and Cairo begins to tire more and more of the political situation..
Thursday: Looks like half of Egypt's who's who were torn between two places on Thursday night, a private house party on the Sahrawy Road with celebs galore and some of Cairo's young fashionistas!
On the other side of town at the Fairmont Nile City's Rooftop a private party was being thrown on behalf of one of Egypt's young's eligible bachelor's birthday party!
Friday: Cairo Jazz's doors were closed for Cairo 360's private event, one of Egypt's largest websites celebrated it's one year anniversary since its launch...several of Cairo's writers, online moguls, musicians, and social butterflies seemed to all enjoy the energetic vibe!
Meanwhile during the day all of Cairo's glitterati headed out to Ganzoury's annual Monhara party! Dancers, celebs, models, and more all rubbed shoulders with one another under Cairo's smoldering spring sun!

Well Cairo, this weekend seems many of you have been busy with Christmas celebrations!
Thursday:
Samba's Vegas party was the talk of the town in Katameya Heights, with everyone coming from all over Cairo to spend one night in vegas. The decorations were amazing and the party was a blast, even though they had to deal with some last minute vocalist changes thanks to Europe's weather conditions! Either way, it was a success so good job ;)
Also on Thursday night, a bunch of Cairo's who's who that study abroad headed to Tamarai for a large birthday party, at the same time, plenty of you headed to the hotspot for the homecoming of one of Cairo's playboys...we hear Tamarai was on fire!
Meanwhile on Thursday, on the other side of town, one of Cairo's biggest socialite couples threw a swinging Christmas dinner and party, we hear everyone left feeling all the more festive!
At CJC, Screwdriver performed, blowing the crowd away, as usual ;)
Friday:
On Friday, one of our hottest female DJs, Mayan Fawaz, joined Amir Sharara live on the decks in Cairo Jazz Club for a night that was defintiely worth attending!
We saw and heard a number of Cairo's who's who wining and dining all over the city in celebration of Xmas eve.
Saturday:
On Saturday, also known as CHRISTMAS ;) there was the Sleigh Bells Ring Charity Event featuring The Riff Band at Cairo Jazz Club, which was an amazing event.
All in all, it was a very intimate and cozy Christmas weekend, which seems appropriate seeing as NYE is in just a few days!

Cairo what a weekend it has been for everyone, with the holiday season getting into gear and exams finishing up for the younger generation...everyone seemed to be out and about!
Thursday: As we all know the ByGanz team hosted the Black Onyx event that was eagerly anticipated...Although we weren't able to attend we heard mixed reviews about the event!! From amazing setup and crowd to horrific music and alcohol! So we'll let you guys be the judge of this one, although we all now know that Black Onyx is ID Vodka's new premium alcohol!
Friday: Although many of you were partied out from the night before, and quite possibly all the Christmas shopping you did at the Sodic Christmas Bazaar, plenty of people headed down to the Cairo Jazz Club for the launch of Amr Hosny's latest night titled "For the Love of House." We have to say we had a blast...the energy was over the top, everyone was there to have a good time!
Also, on Friday night, not one but two house parties! The first took place at a private residence in 6th of October, where all the Egyptian glitterati from the fashion, online, pr/marketing, music, and publishing world attended! Delicious drinks, food and carols were all a part of the night!
Friday also witnessed the Birthdays of two of Egypt's up and coming socialites...hosted by a very dear friend of theirs! It was all fun and games, until the party ccame to an abrupt end when the hostess discovered that someone broke one of the doors in her house, and ended up kicking everyone out. (Oh young people drama...how we miss it)

Cairo hasn't had one of these kind of weekends in a long while...What happened this weekend you may ask?
Thursday: Andrea opened it's doors for one night only to host an event for all of Cairo's up and coming socialites...The Awadi bro's spun, and the host happened to be Rateb's nephew...so the whole event was kept in the family!
Friday: The long awaited Terrace event finally happened, across the board the unanimous opinion was that the event was a complete and utter success...live saxophonist, amazing DJ, vocalists Lauren Rose, Chris Willis, and Melody Thorton (a pussycat doll) all performed to a crowd well over 2,000 of Cairo's heavy hitters!
Although a fight did break out at the end of the event unfortunately...we have to say that if guys can not handle their alcohol they should not attend events PERIOD...
Before the Terrace event, a certain well known socialite hosted a Winter Brunch at her place, with half of Cairo's who's who in attendance!
Saturday: Like announced yesterday, some of those same heavy hitters flew out to Luxor for Susan Mubarak's Human Trafficking event, that hosted the likes of Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher, Sawiris, Maha Abuelenien...and much more!
Also on the Fairmont Nile Towers hosted it's Christmas tree lighting event, with plenty of socialites getting into the festive mood with yummy drinks and gifts!
Talk about a long weekend Cairo!
August 8, 2010
It was the last weekend of the Sahel Season, although many of you will still be heading out for Ramadan...it just won't be the same (que in sad music!)
So let's wrap it all up!
Thursday-
Tamarai: As we all know it was the closing event for one of Sahel's favorite spots...Fady from Mandaloun and DJ Samba, played to a full house! Guests didn't want to leave when the place was shutting down...either they had an amazing time or psychologically it just meant Ramadan was getting closer!
Sky Bar: Although it has been considered THE place to be the whole summer, this past Thursday the hot spot got packed later than usual...looks like Mr. Wahdan just didn't want to close the doors. We're assuming everyone went from Tamarai to the Lebanese export!
Tiesto: Although many of us did not attend the event, seems like a good couple thousand people did! We all love him and his mixing skills, but as we all know the Egyptian "rave" scene is one to be avoided! We hear the party was one big drug fest, that went on into the wee hours of the morning! We're curious did any of you go?
Friday -
Andrea: The party of the summer? The one everyone was waiting for? We have to say we haven't seen anything like it in Egypt for awhile. A-Class crowd, amazing music, Estelle and Craig David blew us away, all in all lets buy a new house in SeaShells? A couple of brave souls, jumped on stage with estelle and tried to grind with her and she was a pretty good sport about it.
We have to say, great choice in entertainers and organization...obviously Rateb's pickiness works out for our benefit as well!
We also hear, Estelle before the big party was scene having a couple drinks at a who's who's private residence in Hacienda!

Sky Bar - Like every other night, all those who were not in Andrea headed out to Sky Bar...fantastic night, but Saturday night was the hot night!
Saturday -
Skybar: Skybar was definitely the place to be on Saturday night. It was impressive how many people were actually out and about - do people not go to work on Sundays anymore?! It was a packed night with a great crowd and amazing music! Besides celebrating the last night of the summer season, it was also Yassin Mansour's birthday. And the fireworks were amazing as usual!
August 1, 2010
Some would call this the last sahel weekend! But S&H know for a fact what's in store for you in the next one!
Either way what hectic weekend this was, so let us break it down for you:
Thursday:
Electrum's Decadence Party: They call them the soul shakers, they were spposed to come once before, but due to that pesky little volcano, looks like the Electrum boys were able to reschedule.
Either way, many of you danced teh night away, unaware of the huge cat fight that took place in the lades bathroom...Tsk Tsk girls - not very class of you, now is it?
Sky Bar - Most of you opted to heading out there on a Thursday night, regardless of the ridiculous minimum charge they applied this weekend (500 LE) and the repetititve music. Either way, looks like sky bar is a winner.
Friday:
Oriental Coast Launch - Friday during the day was the launch of Marsa Allam's future Cafe Del Mar spot....all this took place on the beach in Diplo, the wide line up of DJs and the musicians had everyone who were kicking back on the beach totally relaxed.
Tamarai - one of Cairo's young up and coming DJs made a stop at Tamarai on Friday, spinning the tunes you guys love!
It looked like a lot of people opted to stay home though, as we know the God awful Amr Diab concert was taking place, which makes any movement on the North Coast near to impossible.
Saturday:
Sky Bar - Everyone knows this is the place to be on a Saturday night, although it is still unbearably crowded, the weekend crowd is nearly gone...
But in true Egyptian spirit, two of Cairo's known trouble makers were caught in a fight! Although the fight managed to make its way outside, it did cause some destruction!
July 25, 2010
So this weekend looks like it was the last big weekend, except we can't forget the up coming Electrum records party next week...
So what happened this weekend:
Thursday:
Sky Bar - Just like every day of the weekend, sky bar was on fire! It looks like Egyptians can't get enough of the Lebanese import!
Although there was a rumor going around that a Ms. Kelly Rowland would be making an appearance, it turned out to be exactly that...just a rumor. Never the less, the change to commercial music was much needed, making this weekend better than the last!
We have to say though the fight that broke out at the end of the
night was definitely a buzz kill!
The Black Party - At the Baretza Club House in Marassi Shneeberz entertainment through a private event, that had promise to be an R&B party, but unfortunately like everything else in this country it ended up turning into a house party...But never the less some of us haven't had this kind of fun a long time even if the majority of the crowd wasn't too old!
Friday:
ByGanz - For the 2nd weekend in a row, Ganzoury rocked everyone's Friday. The Freemasons ft. Katherine Ellis (the vocalist) turned Tamarai into one of the best beach parties...Although the venue was a bit spread out, the music was perfection!
Mercedes Star Lounge - DJ Omar Sherif was the headlining Dj at Star Lounge, all though it's not the same as the international line up that was rocking the venue in the last 3 weeks, we have to say his music never falters. All who were there enjoyed the mixes...we just don't get why the venue hasn't received the attention it should?!
July 18, 2010
This weekend was as eventful as last...so what went down:
On Thursday:
- ByGanz brought Beirut's famous Music Hall to Tamarai NC 151...like always these kind of events throw everyone off when expecting a typical Ganzoury event, the influx of Arabic songs and on stage performers were of course amazing, but things didn't start warming up till as of late.
- Tamer el Banna and the Mercedes Star Lounge, launched the new SLS AMG sports car along side Dj Tom Novey...we have to say some of the S&H Team are a bit confused about the crowd, but the music was spot on!
On Friday:
- Sky Bar was the place to be on Friday, the fireworks...the sexy dancers...and the music (which was good the majority of the time, but a bit too hard for the S&H'ers at other times), makes this Beirut import the hottest location in sahel!
- We have to note, that Sky Bar was banging all 3 nights of the weekend, even including Saturday, seems like people can't get enough especially considering how great the venue is!
Weekends are getting hotter and hotter Cairo...what did you think about this past weekend?
